SCHEDULE of EVENTS

The Cresap Society Reunion Goes West
June 28 – June 31, 2018
Asilomar Conference Center, Asilomar, California

Thursday, 28 June
4 p.m. -    Check into your room at Asilomar at the Main Lodge.
3 p.m. - 6 p.m. Check into the Cresap Reunion at the Kiln Room (near our rooms)
6 p.m. – 7p.m.  Dinner in the Crocker Dining Hall – jitney from rooms available-call front desk We can visit in the Main Lodge after dinner. Café in the Lodge is open 6:30 a.m. – 10 p.m. for food and beverages.
8 p.m. - Bonfire with S'mores and Stories
DRESS: Casual
 
Friday, 29 June  
7:30 - 9 a.m.         Breakfast in the Crocker Dining Hall
9 a.m. – 12 noon. Business meeting
8 a.m. – 6 p.m.     Kiln Room is open
12 noon – 1 p.m.  Lunch in the Crocker Dining Hal
 1:30 - 2:30 p.m.   Tour at Presidio of Monterey, (Ft. Ord) with Archivist (Free)
2:45 – 3:15 p.m.   Sherman House tour: Visit to Sherman’s Quarters in Monterey where General William Tecumseh Sherman, Ord’s friend and fellow explorer of early California, will speak with us and answer questions. (Free)
3:30 – 5:00 p.m.  Carmel Mission Tour: Tour the Carmel Mission where Ord’s mother, Rebecca Ruth  Cresap Ord (granddaughter of Daniel Cresap Sr.) was first buried [the entire family was eventually buried at the Ord monument at Arlington National Cemetery] https://carmelmission.org/visit/tours/   We will pay for our own tickets when we get there. Our Docent-led tour is free with admission.
6:00 – 7 p.m.      Friday dinner in the Crocker Dining Hall – jitney from rooms available.
7:05 p.m. Presentations on Interesting Cresap History
DRESS: Casual
 
Saturday, 30 June
7:30-9 a.m.        Breakfast in the Crocker Dining Hall
9 a.m. – 10 a.m. Business Meeting (if needed)
8 a.m. – 6 p.m.   Kiln Room is open A day to explore the area.
Some options for your day:
Monterey Bay Aquarium: Perhaps the premier aquarium in the world. http://www.montereybayaquarium.org/ A ticket purchased through the desk at Asilomar is good for two days, so you can visit more than once during your stay. Cannery Row
Monterey Wharf
Big Sur Drive down beautiful coastal Highway 1 to Big Sur.
Golf: There are many world-class golf courses nearby.
  17-Mile Drive
Shop in lovely Carmel, (where Clint Eastwood lives and was mayor).
  Rent a bike or boogie board at the Asilomar Lodge.
Self-guided walking tour of the famed Julia Morgan architecture at Asilomar Conference Grounds.
Cresap Society Genealogy Table in the Kiln Room. Ask your questions!
  Asilomar coast trail dunes walk where you can stop to make sand castles or enjoy the sunset.
Swimming pool and a volleyball court, as well as pool tables in the Julia Morgan designed Main Lodge.
Roaring fire and comfortable chairs at the Lodge that invite us to gather and get to know Cresap cousins better, and swap Cresap stories.
